What do the look, functionality and the content of your website say about you and your company? They can say a lot before the visitor even reads the first word.
Your website, emails, other written communications contain a message about you and your business just by how they look and work. What non-verbal communication is sent to the visitor when an image is missing or a link does not work on your website? It is NOT that you are a professional.
Another place people send non-verbal communications is in their emails. When you get a text message on your phone from someone, you expect it to be short and cryptic. Most people don’t expect an email to look like a formal letter, but for a business, there are some things it should contain:
- The name of the person the email is being sent to should be listed.
- The body of the letter should not be in all caps.
- After your name you should include your contact information:
phone, email, website and fax if you have one.
Most email applications can be set up to include a standard signature block, so you do not need to key it in each time you create an email.
Remember, how you deliver your message is as important as the message you are delivering. A portion of that message is non-verbal, based on how the information is presented.
When the non-verbal portions of your website and email communications are professional, you are more likely to be perceived as a professional.
The goal of this newsletter is to provide you with information and ideas that will allow you to improve your
web site and your business.
